Firm and boring as any merlot should be, but it puts up a bit of a droll fuss from the sauvignon side of the fam. Delectably oaky, but only after the first swallow and evermore dry with each mouthful. Surely on the redder end of the red wines, a suggestion of cherries with none of the sweetness. Not too tannic, but enough to make the cheese go down. Tasted with muenster.
Vin de France Grande Fontaine
Efvervescent bite, medium-high altitude of light berry tones. Very white and very wet. Taken with a roll, beef, noodles, and veggies. Not bad for airplane wine, though a cheesy review indeed.
Joostenberg 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
Rich and young. The tannic finish waits half a second to greet you with a sandy paper rub to polish the thickest cheese. Medium-bodied and frankly lush, it will water your mouth without end. Slightly sweet and charmingly pucker-powered, the Western Grape of Joostenberg triumphs.

Drier than a volcanic beach at low tide, tannic as the sun at high noon, strong as it is wild, a true drink for the gods. Overtones of pomegranate and a suggestive aftertaste of crispy, morning bacon. Tried with mahjong spice and dark greens a la garlic.
